Modelled on the Irani cafes of old Bombay, right down to the ceiling fans and black and white floor tiles, Dishoom built a genuine following on bacon naan rolls and a house black daal simmered for 24 hours. It does not take bookings for parties under six, so the queue on the pavement is part of the experience, especially at weekend brunch. Come hungry and order more than feels necessary, the small plates format means it disappears fast.
