About
The high level glass walkways put you 42 metres above the Thames looking straight down through the floor, either thrilling or a genuine test of nerve depending on how you feel about heights. Below, the original Victorian engine rooms explain how the bascules actually lift, steam power replaced by hydraulics decades ago but the machinery still on display. Check the bridge lift schedule online, catching the road open for a passing ship is a free bonus.
